Famous last words: "We're going to get to the bottom of this"

The recent revelations of the Internal Revenue Service scandals are mind numbing. Not only has the agency released confidential donor lists of groups opposed to the IRS growing more powerful to groups that want the IRS to be more powerful, it has committed other such horrible violations of basic ethics that President Obama declared at a press conference last month that he was going to: "Get to the bottom of this."
